Luke Richards

I am a tractor driver (that's a fine job!)

I play football for Angle AFC, (well I try to play I am not very good!)

What happens if you are ill at sea?
I try and carry on with my job.

What do you wear on the lifeboat?
Life Jackets, oil skins, coat, helmet, wellies and a bobble hat.

How do you keep fit?
Eat healthy and play football.

Do you ever manage to have a cup of tea when you are out on a shout?
We could do if we wanted to, I drink coke. I have packs of Haribo on board (I love them).

What happens if one of the crew falls in the water?
Make sure we keep an eye on them, tell the coxswain and try to get them back on board as soon as possible.

Do you ever get frightened when you are about to go out on a rescue?
I have a couple of times but we have a good crew.

What made you want to join the lifeboat crew?
My family have been on there for years.

What does your family think about your lifeboat work?
My dad is second Coxswain but my mum used to worry about her little boy.

What is it like on the lifeboat when the weather is really bad?
Like a ride in Oakwood and a lot more rougher!!!

Do you ever get sea sick?
Yep!! nothing wrong with being sea sick. You just get up and carry on.

Describe a special rescue you have been involved in.
We went out to an oil tanker. A man had fallen off a ladder and needed a doctor, so we took a doctor out and the helicopter came to take the man off the tanker.

It looked good and sounded brilliant with the helicopter up above.
