John R Webb

During the summer of 1961 whilst the Richard Vernon and Mary Garforth of Leeds was undergoing a routine overhaul, the relief boat John R. Webb, Watson Class, formally of Tenby Lifeboat Station came to Angle.

Whilst here she was involved in rescuing 2 men, 3 women, 3 young children and a baby off the motor vessel "Etrog" on June 5th, which was on fire 5 miles off St. Anne's Head ( as pictured).

She was also called to look for a fishing vessel on August 3rd and launched into rough seas and a south-westerly gale at 8.45 pm. The fishing vessel was found in the lee of Skokholm Island and 2 men were taken onboard and returned to station.
