1888 - 1906In 1887 the RNLI decided to place a new boat in Angle. Built in Cowes by Hansen the 12 oared self-righter cost £418.At 37ft x 8ft she was railed from Portsmouth to Milford Haven on 26th September 1888, from there she was sailed across the Haven to Angle.She required a new longer slip which was built at a cost of £610.Following two disasters in 1887 when the Southport & St.Anne's lifeboats capsized on service with a loss of 27 men, some changes were made to this design of boat. This included the fitting of drop-keels and the Henry Martin Harvey was taken to London to be modified. She Returned to station in July of 1892.The Henry Martin Harvey was involved in one of Angle's most celebrated rescues being that of the crew of the Loch Shiel.The Henry Martin Harvey was a legacy of Mr H.M. Harvey of Hexworth, Cornwall.Launched a total of 14 times with 40 lives saved.
